PRESS RELEASE 05/05/2026 DISINFORMATION IN THE NAME OF Stg. BELLINGCAT
On 12/11/2025, the chairman of the ELR Foundation, Mr. Gabor Landman, was accused in the Balie by Yoeri Deodatus Albrecht of being paid by the Russian secret service to raise objections. Mr. Yoeri Albrecht referred to an investigation by the journalistic research team of the Bellingcat Foundation, Chamber of Commerce number 72136030, with its registered office in Amsterdam.
In 2016, Landman ran a stemtegen.eu campaign during the Ukraine referendum. Silencing a critic of Ukraine by spreading the baseless lie that he works for the Russian secret service undermines the democratic rule of law. Landman has filed a report of defamation. See https://language-rights.eu/balie_GB.pdf
The investigative journalism team Bellingcat has been repeatedly asked for a response as part of its social responsibility, yet e-mails and letters remain unanswered. Furthermore, Bellingcat cannot be reached by phone. This conduct is unworthy of a reputable investigative journalism team.
If Bellingcat is being used to spread lies in its name, then the credibility of the investigative journalism team will be permanently damaged. The board of the Bellingcat Foundation should therefore issue a written statement regarding Mr. Yoeri Albrechts statement at De Balie instead of cowardly playing hide-and-seek.
